AP STAFF ACCOUNTANT job opportunity in WASHINGTON DC.

International nonprofit/NGO is seeking an AP STAFF ACCOUNTANT to join their robust Accounting Department.  Due to growth, this is a newly created role that will support the Controller.  The ideal candidate should have experience working autonomously in a fast-paced department, be comfortable supporting the Controller with various operational duties; serve as the administrator for the travel expense software, and be comfortable working with Microsoft Office products/SKYPE/an ERP software.  This organization, which provides humanitarian aid across the world, has its finance operations at Farragut Square and is convenient to both the Red and Orange lines.  Salary range is $55k - $63k.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate, manage, and pay all AP payments, employee advances, and expense reports. Review invoices and expense reports for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment

  • Review check, Wire, ACH, Western Union Retail and Petty Cash requests. Create/process vouchers for payment approval

  • Reconcile and pay corporate creidt card, major insurances, health care, and rent for headquarters and field office expenses

  • Responsible for new vendor and bank account set up, both domestic and international; create new vendor files and managed vendor database

  • Manage banking details for payments

  • Process wires and ACH and check payments; post cash disbursements

  • Oversee Petty Cash funds, reconcile monthly receipts and secure funds for the cash box.  Work closely with the Treasury Manager for cash availability for urgent payment requests

  • Handle wire transfers: Domestic ACH, Overseas Wires, Western Union Retail payments, USD and Foreign Currency.  Record and update payment logs

  • Handle all emergency requests for payment

  • Investigate and resolve problematic wire transfers, working with Headquarters and Field office staff

  • Serve as Travel Expense Administrator

 

NEEDED ELEMENTS:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting/Finance or related discipline

  • 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience with Concur helpful

  • Experience working within an international non-profit helpful
