Position Title: Finance Officer (French-Speaking)

Purpose-driven, international nonprofit/NGO is seeking a Finance Officer to provide comprehensive financial management support for a cluster of international field offices in Africa.  Working with the International Director of Finance, this newest teammate will be involved with overseeing financial reporting from the overseas offices; maintaining internal controls; ensure grants are in compliance; and assist with associate budgeting.  The worksite is located at their International HQ at the Inner Harbor, Baltimore (although there is up to 20% international travel).  Salary projected up to $60k.



  • Process monthly financial reports from country offices.

  • Review and process monthly field account, prepare invoices, perform required monthly. reconciliations, and compile monthly expenditure reports. Provide feedback to the field office on issues and corrections to the field accounts.

  • Prepare quarterly financial reports to donors.

  • Develop and oversee country implementation budgets, in close coordination with Home and Field office team.  Provide updated budget as requested.

  • Monitor and manage budget tracking system including update projections based on work-plan progression.

  • Monitor program-level monthly expenses to ensure that they are within project’s burn rates.

  • Travel to field offices to provide coverage in financial and administration and to train new staff.

  • Ensure consistent implementation of USAID rules and regulations.



  • Bachelor degree in Accounting/Finance

  • 2+ years relevant accounting experience

  • Exposure to groups funded by USAID is a plus along with good understanding of A-133 (2 CFR 200)

  • Experience working with an NGO is a plus

  • Experience with internal controls in a non-profit environment a plus.

  • Strong communications skills

  • Ability to travel internationally (up to 20%)
