Job Title: Network Engineering Support Technician
Duration: 6 Month Open Ended Contract

Job Summary:
The employee is responsible for all Level 3 Technical and specialist activities in supporting and maintaining the network layers of the IT Department.  This position acts as the escalation path for incidents (and severe incidents), problems, changes and service request tickets regarding the network layers that cannot be solved within the operating level agreements of the front line technical operations team.  Work hours typically include regular daytime hours; the job holder is frequently on call outside of regular hours to resolve significant issues.
 
Prioritized Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
·         30% Work independently (and within a greater team of senior technical experts) to proactively ensure real time monitoring, systems health, capacity, availability, and overall high performance of the network services are maintained. Proposes and may implement enhancements to network systems and services based around automation, consolidation, and standardization opportunities in the environment.          
·         20% Provide Level 3 technical expertise in analyzing, administering, and maintaining voice, video, and/or data communications networks by troubleshooting issues and providing resolution and information (and training when needed) on escalations from other IT
·         20% Interfaces with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during network outages, periods of reduced performance, or work to be performed by the third party.
·         10% Support all aspects of network installations and upgrades. And participates in special projects as required.
·         5% Support senior network engineers with the evaluation of network hardware and software for lifecycle management
·         5% Follow all development and implementation of network-related procedures and standards.
·         5% Participates in ensuring a high level of network security and compliance.
·         5% Works with Operational Supplier Management to ensure third party vendor performance against demands for IT networks support.
 
Other General Responsibilities:
·         Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
·         Assists other employees in accomplishment of company goals.
·         Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
·         Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
 
Specific Skills & Knowledge:
·         Install all new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
·         Supports network and computing infrastructure.
·         Requires a thorough knowledge of networking essentials.
·         Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs
·         Establishing networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards;
·         The design and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the current environment;
·         Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization;
·         Undertaking data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources;
·         Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations;
·         Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information and managing projects;
·         Upgrading data network equipment to latest stable firmware releases;
·         Remote support of on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation;
·         Remote troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initial installation;
·         Liaising with project management team, 3rd line engineers and service desk engineers on a regular basis;
·         Speaking with customers via email and phone for initial requirement capture.
·         Knowledge in maintaining and supporting large scale network landscapes
·         Knowledge in utilizing diagnostic tools and extrapolating performance data for troubleshooting complex network issues
·         Understanding of VoIP, WAN compression technologies, video conferencing, and integrated call center solutions
·         Experience in working with indirect reports and third parties to resolve network layer issues
·         Good in working under pressure
·         Strong problem solving skills
·         Exposure to ITIL standards and best practice within operational environments
·         Experience in working in a multinational environment
·         Fluent in written and spoken English, other languages are a plus
·         Good background in delivering via standards, process, and procedures
 
Education & Experience:        
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for all jobs.  One year of relevant experience may typically be substituted for one year of formal education.  Indicate minimum expectations for this job.
 
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
CCNP or CCSP (or similar) required, Security + certification a plus
