Position Title: Microsoft BI/DW Developer and DBA

Desired Skills:

The DBA & Reporting Analyst role is part of the Business Information Systems Team and is responsible for the refinement and optimization of existing SQL databases as well as integrations with SQL Server and related technologies. This role is also responsible for performing the planning, design, development, and deployment of new reporting and database tools, and enhancing existing reports.
The successful candidate will be able to research and analyze current reporting and business data needs and then architect and implement tools to automate and streamline the processes, to achieve efficiency and scalability for the business users. Microsoft SQL Certified Candidates are preferred. Prior experience in the financial services or mutual fund industry is an asset.

• Architect and design solutions based on business needs
• Provide business analysis of data sources and data flow; design and develop data models
• Design, develop and implement reporting database applications and report automation utilizing data from SQL and flat files sources
• Design testing plans and perform testing for data integrity, database performance, data integration and report automation
• Develop and maintain SSIS data cleansing processes including manipulation of data from multiple sources and formats
• Maintain and re-engineer current SSRS reports and Access / Excel reporting
• Develop data definitions consistent with data management standards and conventions
• Monitor and manage the performance of databases, data base back-ups and security
• Create packages, indexes, views, procedures and triggers
• Prepare detailed documentation of the tools, reporting procedures, and schema

• Databases: SQL Server (2005/2008), Microsoft Access
• Applications: SSIS, SSRS
• Programming: T-SQL, SQL, stored procedures/triggers required. C#, VBA an asset
• OS: Windows XP/7, Windows Server 2005, 2008
• Sharepoint 2007/2010 experience is an asset

• University degree
• 5 years relevant experience including:
o Relational / multidimensional database and in-depth knowledge of SQL coding
o ETL tools and techniques
o VBA or VB in Desktop application development environment
o Solution architecture
• Database design and development skills including knowledge of database schema design and data modeling techniques
• Solid background in database administration, along with knowledge of diverse data administration and data conversion methodologies, database technologies and tools
• Report development experience with SSRS
• Experience with developing database reporting tools & OLAP databases
• Knowledge of business intelligence and information security including administration
• Must have proven analytical ability and strong technical problem solving skills
• Experienced in creating test plans, and testing of data and reporting applications
• Experienced in preparing documentation and working with business users
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good project management and communication skills
