Description: The Production Scheduler/Planner is responsible for coordinating and developing production schedules on a daily and or weekly basis to meet production goals. They take stock of inventory levels and facilitate providing necessary materials and components. The Production Scheduler/Planner will also be responsible for managing product delivery to customers.


• The Production Planner/Scheduler adds planning data, schedules the Jobs in the company MRP System, copies, assembles, distributes, and further prepares drawing packets for manufacturing process.
• This position will be the focal point in creating a production scheduling system.
• The Production Planner creates, tracks, and reports on the current production status of released Components.
• This position reports to the General Manager and functions as a liaison between Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Shipping/Receiving departments.
• It is a focal point among all departments to effectively communicate and help meet production requirements.
• The Production Planner/Scheduler will do inventory counts when required. Inventory management is key for this role.
• They will be able to find the information on any given part and order material accordingly.
• The production schedule is a means to track and manage daily manufacturing workload, provide feedback to engineering on in-house versus subcontracted manufacturing hours, and provide regular reports on manufacturing status.
• The production schedule will provide an in-depth audit on production requirements, manufacturing capacity, schedule, and workforce size.
• Monitors, analyzes, and reports performance to schedule of production activities
• Utilizes information derived from material and production control systems, coordinates with project managers and production to sequence manufacturing and assembly.
• Assists the manufacturing department to actively manage the production schedule.
• Assign manufacturing times and due dates on parts as needed and document during the releasing process.
• Coordinate with departments and project managers to identify and resolve issues regarding budget and delivery.
• Monitor quality, service, and delivery issues, and take corrective actions as needed.
• Identify, resolve supplier and internal errors that result in budget or schedule discrepancies.
• Provide continual improvement of the planning and reporting processes.
• Participate in production meetings.
• Effectively communicate the requirements to purchasing and manufacturing personnel.
• Accurately develop and maintain complex master bills-of-material, and work order bills-of-material.
• Research order and delivery discrepancies and resolve MRP related issues.
• Take appropriate corrective actions to prevent similar issues.
• Distribute assembled travelers, drawing packages and engineering-change-notices among departments as required
• Routine clerical duties to support department activities and equipment.
• May include supervision of others performing these duties.
• Remain informed on current projects, manufacturing workload, and manufacturing processes.
• Using Lean Principles move towards a more efficient system of production control.
• The goal is continual improvement of the processes being utilized.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and ethics codes.
• Follow ISO/AS9100 Quality Standards
• Assist with the development, documentation, and implementation of procedures and standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned to insure the success of projects, coworkers, and the company.
• Schedule jobs according to estimating times and traveler routing lines. Schedule best sequence of operations.
• The scheduler must meet regularly with the production supervisor and other management when required to schedule production runs in a cost and time efficient manner and deal with any scheduling issues / concerns.
• Inform engineering administrator and / or sales personnel with regards to any scheduling discrepancies, so they may contact the customer and discuss accordingly.
• Develop and manage capacity planning reports (forecasted according to estimated hrs), capacity graphs, WC Eff %, WC Dispatch, etc.…

• 5+ years of experience in planning/scheduling production.
• 5+ years of related experience and proven performance in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge and proficiency with MRP/ERP systems
• Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, honest, and thorough.
• A versatile, self-starter with a positive attitude.
• Able to handle a dynamic workload from heavy multi-tasking during peak workloads to very focused, detail-oriented work during critical projects
• Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Team attitude; eager to cooperate with others with exceptional interpersonal communication skills. Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.
• Willing to put in extra effort and hours as needed.
• Previous experience in a machine shop environment, knowledge of manufactured parts and components within an ISO quality system environment would be considered an asset.
• Competent with computer software such as Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and MS Project).
