Description: Our client, a structural and steel products manufacturer currently requires a Purchaser / Planner

• Procurement of shop supplies and production materials
• Read, comprehend and interpret technical/fabrication drawings
• Monitor supply levels in conjunction with shop supervisor and order supplies accordingly
• Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtain recommendations from suppliers
• Communicate with suppliers for product or service price, availability, and delivery schedules, to include verification of supplier conformance to program drawing and specification requirements.
• Receiving all purchased items according to POs and Packing Slips.
• Receive materials, inspect for completeness to packing/shipping documents
• Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolve shipment errors with suppliers.
• Provide purchasing planning and control information by collecting analyzing and summarizing data and trends
• Maintain manual and computerized procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality, performance, and inventory reports including support of request quotes from multiple vendors to determine best price/value for goods and services
• Required to work in office and plant floor environments

Skills & Qualifications
• Post secondary diploma or trade certification in mechanical, electrical, industrial field preferred.
• 2-4 years of supply chain / purchasing experience within a manufacturing/production environment
• Ability to read technical/fabrication drawings
• Prior experience with 3D modeling Solid works or similar 2D modeling CAD program would be a definite asset
• Practical knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures
• Quoting, cost and variance analysis
• Budget preparation and tracking
• Vendor negotiation and relationship development
• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and high volume of work on deadline.
• Ability to interact professionally with customers, suppliers, and fellow team members.
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel, costing models
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to lift and move items up to 15KG.
