Position Title: Process Engineer - Extrusion
Salary Range:

Description: The Process Engineer is responsible for supporting all technical aspects of extrusion production processes, which includes the definition, management, and continuous improvement of tooling, equipment and fixtures. The process engineer shall comply with and participate in all corporate and site-specific policies, procedures, projects and initiatives; including IATF, ISO, Health & Safety and relevant regulatory requirements.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties required for successful job performance):

Process planning
• Responsible for all extrusion production work instructions, setup instructions, process parameter sheets and related operational process documentation required for production use.
• Responsible for providing technical inputs for PFD, PFMEA, MFMEA, TPM and Maintenance instructions
• Responsible for developing continuous improvement, scrap reduction and cost reduction plans.
• Supports the trialing, implementation and validation of process engineering changes

Tooling and Equipment
• Defines specifications and requirements for production equipment and fixturing
• Develops, maintains and controls specifications, drawings, cad models, and CNC programs for extrusion tooling; including die assemblies and subcomponents
• Shall be responsible for the validation of new tooling and equipment utilized in production
• Defines equipment preventive and predictive maintenance requirements; as well as spare parts need to minimize downtime.
• Supports equipment downtime troubleshooting, corrective and preventive actions
• Performs tooling & equipment inspections and coordinates refurbishment and/or replacement actions as required
• Works with contractors & vendors to develop tooling build and refurbishment adequate for continuous production use.
• Develops and maintains cost studies, time lines, budgets and resource plans for major improvement projects

OEE & Production Support
• Shall participate in daily production report outs and open issue reviews with management
• Provides leadership to extrusion cross-functional team scrap reduction and OEE improvement initiatives
• Addresses daily production issues by investigating and implementing corrective actions
• Supports maintenance staff by providing technical documentation, special tools, materials and direction needed to complete corrective and improvement activities.
• Participates in extrusion section reviews and secondaries processing issues resolution
• Provides technical leadership and training to production lead hands and operators as required

Health & Safety
• Shall be responsible for the ensuring extrusion equipment and processes meet regulatory and corporate health & safety, as well as ergonomic and environmental requirements
• Shall participate in health & safety reviews, investigations and improvement activities.
• Responsible for following up on and resolving health & safety issues in a timely manner
• Other duties as required
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those needed to perform the essential functions of the job).


• Ability to solve complex problems and exercise judgement based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proven leadership, interpersonal skills and personal development skills.
• Experience in a variety of basic operation disciplines: Manufacturing, Quality, Process Extrusion and Shop Floor Supervision.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAD or similar software applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, scientific and/or technical journals, and technical procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, management, customers, and general public.
• Strong understanding of geometric concepts required. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
