Description: Job Summary:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Senior Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and procuring supplies, materials and services. The incumbent will maintain the purchasing and inventory systems and maintain a current list of purchases and inventory and generate monthly reports. The Purchasing Manager is service oriented and is capable of building and maintaining professional rapport with internal customers and external vendors.

Job Responsibilities:

Source and obtain competitive quotes for materials, equipment, supplies and services
Develop & implement cost saving on repetitive purchases (MRO, etc.)
Deploy best practices for productivity and develop appropriate procedures Renegotiate terms and price on non raw material vendors.
Manage vendor/contractor contracts( on Demand, VMI, etc)
Manage the vendor master file and product/vendor rebids
Ensure Timely issue of purchase orders, track and expedite purchases while working with internal departments and external vendors
Negotiate and coordinate with outside vendors/suppliers to ensure delivery and distribution of supplies, materials and or services
Continuously evaluate product options, quality, pricing, scheduling and vendor integrity to obtain goods and services at competitive prices
Manage supplier relationships by acting as main contact for all issues regarding pricing, specifications, terms and conditions and timely deliveries
Generate monthly reports, as required, to monitor progress
Consult and communicate with all levels of management and staff in regards to corporate procurement and ensure purchasing methods are in compliance with corporate policy.
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, as applicable
Ensure all vendor acknowledgements and update vendor promise dates
Oversee monthly and ad hoc raw material inventory and address variances
Support continuous inprovement (manufacturing, maintenance, etc)
Job Qualifications:


Completion of an university degree
Purchasing Management association of Canada (PMAC) designation is preferred
Knowledge Skills and Experience:

Minimum 10 years working experience, specifically in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrates understanding in vendor sourcing, evaluation and negotiation
Detail oriented and strong analytical skills
Superior project managements and organizational skills
Strong written and oral communication and exceptional interpersonal skills
Self starter and work independently with minimal supervision
Process Oriented
Detailed knowledge of ERP systems and process, i.e. JDE, SAP, Oracle
Demonstrates a high proficiency in MS Office
