Description: Our client, a global tier 1 automotive manufacturer is currently seeking a Controls Engineer

Position Summary:
Increase uptime, throughput, efficiency and quality, through the process of maintaining, designing, developing and continuously improving our equipment and the utilization of technology to ensure the best quality frames are produced.


Major Responsibilities:
• Ensure up to date backups for PLC’s, HMI’s and any other digital controllers in the plant.
• Assist in proper electrical documentation of control systems
• Performing Continuous Improvement activities to improve safety, to increase productivity and to reduce production cost, by development and improvement of electrical control systems, PLC & HMI’s including design, implementation and troubleshooting.
• Maintain awareness of existing and emerging technologies in PLC, Robots, and instrumentation and computer systems.
• Provide training and guidance to maintenance personnel related to control systems.
• Consider safety as top priority in design and implementation of any control system.
• Assist the maintenance department in the troubleshooting and repair of electrical problems when required.
• Assisting in developing of PM strategies and identify areas of improvement within the control system infrastructure.
• Assist other maintenance staff in identifying and procuring equipment and parts necessary for daily maintenance requirements.
• Participation in pre-design reviews for new machinery.
• Direct contractors and / or employees to implement control system projects and maintenance.
• Work safely and follow all safety rules at all times.
• Report any unsafe or unhealthy conditions immediately.

Education & Certification:
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Licensed Industrial Electrician – preferred but not required

Strong Knowledge of:
• Robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands-on experience. Configuration/programming of PLC's, HMI’s and other digital control systems.
• Allen-Bradley PLC’s and HMI’s.
• RSLogix500, RSLogix5000, RSLinx, RSNetworx, Factory Talk View (RSView), DeviceNet, ControlNet, Ether/IP.
• Selection of electrical and controls Hardware and Software components.
• Strong controls programming, mechanical and electrical problem solving skills.
• Resistance Welding cells and Assembly lines.
• Microsoft Office, Windows
• Root cause analysis
• Design weakness and improvement concepts
• Key performance indicators (KPI’s)
• Maintenance policy and procedure
• Blueprint reading / Schematics
• Pre-Health & Safety Reviews

Work Experience
• Minimum 7 years of experience in automotive and manufacturing environment
