Position Title: Data Architect

• Provide leadership and involvement in the development, communication and deployment of best practices for enterprise data architecture, master data management, data governance, data quality and data integration.
• Exercise influence and impact across the enterprise in promoting the strategic direction for enterprise data management.
• Design and implement enterprise data and metadata structures.
• Examine and enforce opportunities to provide data reuse.
• Develop and maintain data architecture strategies, next generation data architectures, enterprise capabilities, roadmaps, data standards, data reference architectures and transformation plans.
• Review new and existing program/project architecture for compliance with enterprise data architecture standards, policies and plans.
• Cultivate relationships with IT management and the business.
• Develop and maintain current and planned state architectural blueprints.
• Communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals and strategies.
• Gain organizational commitment for enterprise level data architecture initiatives.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of the organization's technologies and architectures.
• Review IT procurement plans for compliance with architectural standards and plans.
• Document and communicate exceptions to architectural standards.
• Keep abreast of development in data architecture trends and capabilities pertaining to banking and financial systems.
• Governance and advisory activities for projects as they are initiated by business requirements.
• Contribute to meeting key project milestones and overall project deliverables on time, within budget, and adhering to relevant standards.
• Interface with business and technical people in order to understand and integrate business needs from various business units, interpret those into technical design within the logical and physical data model.
• Integrate request from various business units and determine overlaps and impact to other business areas.
• Contribute to the overall warehouse design and integration effort, with specific emphasis on data sourcing and transformation requirements.
• Act as a Data Modeler and provide architectural direction and guidance to projects.
• Provide expertise and counsel; ensuring technology teams and business areas understand the enterprise architectural options and technology choices in support of their business initiatives.
• Use specialized tools and techniques to develop the enterprise data model while replacing and enhancing the existing data model.
• Lead research efforts and introduction of new data management tools and technologies and the development of business cases for tools and technology introduction.

• Leading for data architecture domain by addressing all the data needs for the organization.
• Navigating across business as a data steward who will introduce data governance frameworks including data policies, standards, guidelines and procedures.
• Work with the Enterprise Architecture team and other architects to address any data requirements for all strategic initiatives.
• Leading effort in building of the enterprise data warehouse or data lake using modern data storage technologies and methodologies.
• Assisting any on-going or future projects with data architecture solutions, creating architecture blueprints and overseeing implementation alignment with produced blueprints.

• Some travel may be required throughout the territory and/or international commitments.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
• A university degree in computer science or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of TOGAF and/or Zachman Framework required. Certification an asset.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
• 10+ years of experience in data architecture including: data modeling, data governance, master data management, data quality, data stewardship, and data warehousing/business intelligence.
• 10+ years of experience in a formal Data Architecture role in a complex development organization.
• Strong knowledge of canonical data models, messaging data models, and XML data definitions.
• Previous experience in leading data management transformation initiatives.
• Expert knowledge of data architecture best practices and methods.
• Extensive experience in data warehousing/data lake, business intelligence and data analytics
• Experience with emerging technologies (Big Data, Cloud, Data Lake, Lakehouse, Predictive Analytics/Forecasting, Data Mining, etc.) is an asset.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation and organizational skills specifically including the ability to present complex architectural strategies and directions to both IT and business staff including executives.
• Ability to build consensus and alignment between enterprise-wide direction and business specific initiatives and requirements.
• Exceptional networking, relationship building and influencing skills.
• Non-profit experience is an asset.
• Extensive experience in establishing data warehouse/lakes, has solid experience with Cloud based data storage solutions (Azure specifically).
• Expert in BI and Reporting who can work with unstructured raw data and build data processing solutions.
• Worked with leading edge BI platforms, such as Power BI and Tableau.
• Good understanding of data driven system integration (web services and ETL/batch jobs), establishing organization’s canonical data models and ability to work with XML and JSON based data formats.
• Strong experience with modern CRM solutions (MS Dynamics, Salesforce) and their data models.
• Had exposure to modern ESB platforms, API-led designs, SOA/micro-service architectures.
